Andhra Pradesh Train Accident: Five passengers were killed

Five passengers were killed after a train hit them in Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh on Monday night. While there are reports of many injured. The injured have been admitted to the hospital, one of whom is in critical condition. At the same time, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has expressed grief over the incident.

The incident happened on Monday night in Batuva village of Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh. According to eyewitnesses, the deceased were traveling in Coimbatore-Silchar Express (No. 12515) train when they saw smoke coming out of it and during this time the chain pulled. After that he got down from the train and stood on the track. Then another train Konark Express came from the opposite direction and left, crushing them. This train was going from Bhubaneswar to Visakhapatnam.

The incident took place at 9 pm between the G Sigadam and Cheeprurpalli railway stations, an official statement said.

All five died on the spot, officials added. The bodies were in the process of being identified and have been sent for post-mortem. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy while expressing shock over the incident instructed officials to provide the best possible treatment for the injured.
