Australia dominate again, England bowled out at 185 in Boxing Day Test

England have failed to score big again in the third Ashes Test against Australia in Melbourne. The visiting side was bowled out for 185 runs in the first innings. England captain Joe Root top-scored for his team with his 50-run knock while the other English batters failed to impress on Day 1 of the Boxing Day Test.

Meanwhile, Jonny Bairstow who is playing his first match of the series has said that his side would have bowled as well considering the helpful conditions and tinge of green on the pitch.

England lost the first two matches of ongoing Ashes in Brisbane and Adelaide and batting failure is the primary reason. Their woes with the willow continued in the third Test as England were bowled out for 185 in their first innings.

“Yes, we lost a couple of early wickets but the partnership between Dawid [Malan] and Joe [Root] was really good again. We were naturally disappointed to lose Dawid on the stroke of lunch. It potentially changes things if that doesn’t go down then.

“We’re still searching for that big score but both teams were looking to bowl first on that pitch this morning with the help of the conditions and a tinge of green,” it added.

Australia were 61/1 at stumps, trailing by 124 runs against England.

Brief scores: England 1st innings 185 in 65.1 overs (Joe Root 50, Jonny Bairstow 35; Pat Cummins 3/36, Nathan Lyon 3/36) lead Australia 1st innings 61/1 (David Warner 38, Marcus Harris 20 not out; James Anderson 1/14) by 124 runs.
