Creator of Gmail asserts that ChatGPT will wipe out Google in at least two years

The worry that ChatGPT will overtake Google is not entirely unfounded. Gmail’s creator, Paul Buccheit, recently expressed his opinion on Twitter, claiming that Google might be completely replaced by artificial intelligence within the next two years. Search, Google’s most lucrative service, could soon be supplanted by a tool from Open AI. After only one week of operation, ChatGPT has attracted over a million users by November 2022.

The AI tool is being praised worldwide for its capacity to create intricate essays, sales pitches, poems, jokes, and even pass the most difficult tests.

Paul Buccheit; Creator of Gmail opines that AI Tool ChatGpt could destroy Google in next two years

Paul Buccheit, the creator of Gmail wrote in a series of Tweets;
“Google may be only a year or two away from total disruption. AI will eliminate the Search Engine Result Page, which is where they make most of their money.Even if they catch up on AI, they can’t fully deploy it without destroying the most valuable part of their business. The way I imagine this happening is that the URL/Search bar of the browser gets replaced with AI that autocompletes my thought/question as I type it while also providing the best answer (which may be a link to a website or product),”

Paul Buccheit elaborates ChatGPT will do to search engines, what Google did to Yellow Pages

The Search Engine Result Page, which is where search engines like Google make the majority of their revenue, will be eliminated by AI, according to Buccheit, who further explained that ChatGPT will do to search engines what Google did to the Yellow Pages (the information directory that existed before Google Search engine came to the shore).

Even if Google creates its own version of OpenAI-based model, they would not be able to deploy it

He points out that, even if search engines like Google made an effort to catch up with AI by developing their own version of the OpenAI-based AI model, they would not be able to fully implement it without running the risk of losing their most important source of revenue.

ChatGPT’s efficiency takes Academia by surprise

A professor at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania was recently surprised when he evaluated the AI tool using the MBA exam and found that ChatGPT could pass the test. ChatGPT passed tests at a US law school in addition to the MBA exam by producing essays on subjects including constitutional law, taxation, and torts. According to a white paper written by Minnesota University Law School professor Jonathan Choi and his co-authors, the AI chatbot ultimately received a grade of C+.
More than 20 AI solutions will be on display, and Google is preparing to introduce its own ChatGPT replacement.

Former Google research director D. Shivkumar, who assisted in founding the start-up Tonita, told agencies

“This is a moment of significant vulnerability for Google.ChatGPT has put a stake in the ground, saying, ‘Here’s what a compelling new search experience could look like.’
