Hyderabad Man Spends Rs 6 Lakh on Idlis, Swiggy’s Surprising Findings on ‘International Idli Day’

Swiggy: In the past 12 months, one Swiggy user from Hyderabad reportedly spent an astounding Rs 6 lakh on Idli orders, the food delivery service reported on Thursday. On March 30, the day designated as “International Idli Day,” Swiggy published its analysis.

Person placed orders for 8,428 plates of idlis

According to a Swiggy announcement, the investigation, which spans the time period from March 30, 2022, to March 25, 2023, offers fascinating insights into the appeal of this South Indian delicacy. The most idlis were ordered by a single Swiggy user from Hyderabad last year, who shelled out an astounding 6 lakh rupees for this south Indian treat. Also, while travelling between places like Bengaluru and Chennai, this person placed orders for 8,428 plates of idlis, including orders for friends and family, it claimed. 33 million plates of Idlis were delivered by Swiggy in the past year, demonstrating the dish’s enormous popularity with customers, the company reported.

The data also revealed that consumers from Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, and Chennai like to purchase idlis between the hours of 8 and 10 in the morning. According to the release, plain idli is the most widely consumed variety across all cities, with a plate of two pieces being the most typical order. Bengaluru is the city where rava idlis are most popular, while ghee/neyi karam podi idlis are popular in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana.
