The price of eggs increased in Mumbai as cold started, know what is the price

It was not cold in Mumbai at the end of November. But now the outbreak of cold is intensifying here. That’s why the demand for eggs has started increasing. Due to the high demand for eggs, its wholesale price has increased from Rs 500 to 100 eggs and in the retail market from Rs 650 to 750. However, in November this year compared to last year, the prices of eggs are seen decreasing by Rs 110. At the same time, 150 rupees have increased in the retail market.

There was a huge drop in egg sales in November. There was a shortfall of 35 lakh eggs per day in sales. But this situation has changed. There has been an increase of 40 lakh eggs in the daily demand. Mumbai Eggs Association President Aftaf Khan said that at present 78 lakh eggs are being sold daily. Now the demand seems to be stabilizing. Therefore, it is expected that the rates will remain the same till the end of December.

Eggs come to Mumbai from different parts of Hyderabad, Karnataka and Maharashtra. The rates had come down in November this year due to the rapid increase in egg production. But now the rates are seen increasing in December. Traders say that eggs are being sourced from Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. There is good work of poultry in Pune, Sangli and other districts of Maharashtra.

At present, consumers have to pay less than Rs 72 for a dozen eggs in the retail market. In some places it is up to Rs 80. The cost of 1 egg ranges from Rs 6 to 7.5. While last month the cost of a dozen eggs was Rs 65. Every year with the onset of cold weather we see fluctuations in prices.

The demand for eggs is currently higher than in November. However, there was a substantial increase in sales during the Corona period last year. 80 to 90 lakh eggs were sold daily. During the Corona period, the demand for eggs had increased due to increased immunity. At the same time, 45 lakh eggs were sold last month, now the price of eggs has increased due to cold. It remains to be seen whether its demand will increase further after increasing cold or will it remain stable.
