Dollar wobbles as traders consider rate outlook
The dollar wobbled on Wednesday as the Federal Reserve’s chances of raising interest rates next week diminished, while the Canadian dollar achieved one-month highs as traders increased bets on the government raising rates, and the Turkish lira hit record lows.
The Australian dollar reached three-week highs following the Reserve Bank of Australia’s decision to boost interest rates to 11-year highs on Tuesday, and Governor Philip Lowe hinted that further rate hikes are on the way, despite the increased danger of an economic slump. The euro was up 0.1% at $0.6677 after reaching a high of $0.669 overnight, its best since May 16.
