Top 5 stocks of the day: Major losses on the Nifty included State Bank of India, Asian Paints, HCL Technologies, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and Bajaj Auto, while gainers included Hindalco Industries, Nestle India, Bharti Airtel, Maruti Suzuki, and JSW Steel. On the sectoral front, there was a mixed trend, with realty, bank, information technology, and PSU bank down 0.5-1 percent, while metal, FMCG, and power names saw purchasing. The BSE midcap index fell 0.4 percent, while the smallcap index ended flat by 0.4 percent.

The benchmark indices closed the tumultuous day on March 23 on a bearish note, with the Nifty falling below 17,100. The Sensex closed down 289.31 points, or 0.50%, at 57,925.28, while the Nifty fell 75.00 points, or 0.44%, to 17,076.90. Around 1428 shares advanced, 1983 shares declined, and 127 shares were unchanged.

Nippon Life India Trustee offloads 0.26% stake in KSB

Nippon Life India Trustees has sold 92,000 equity shares in KSB, representing a 0.26% position. Nippon's share in the company fell to 2.98%, down from 3.246% previously. KSB was trading at Rs 2,083.00, a 0.28 percent increase.
