Top 5 Stocks Of The Day: ONGC, Reliance Industries, Adani Enterprises, Coal India, and Adani Ports were the top gainers on the Nifty, while Cipla, ITC, LTIMindtree, Bajaj Auto, and Infosys were the top losers. The oil and gas index was up 5%, the power index up 3%, and the capital goods index up 2% among industries. A percent was added to the BSE Smallcap index and 1.7 percent to the BSE Midcap index.

Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd declares net profit for the third quarter

Due in part to higher refining margins and lower crude oil prices, Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd declared a consolidated net profit of Rs 3,181.42 crore for the third quarter that ended on December 31, 2023, up from Rs 1,747.01 crore in the same period the previous year. Net profit increased to Rs 3,397.27 crore on a stand-alone basis from Rs 1,959.58 crore in the previous year. Analysts had projected a net profit of approximately Rs 3,303.80 crore, a decrease of roughly 70% from the previous quarter.

Sensex and NSE Nifty50

The Nifty was up 385.00 points, or 1.80 percent, at 21,737.60 at the closing, while the Sensex was up 1,240.90 points, or 1.76 percent, at 71,941.57. A little over 1963 shares rose, 1393 shares fell, and 95 shares remained unchanged. On January 29, Indian benchmark indices concluded the day higher, with Nifty closing at 21,750.
