Coolie Review: Netizens Have Mixed Reactions To This Rajinikanth Starrer

Early responses to Coolie reveal divided opinions. Some fans praised Rajinikanth’s energy and screen presence, while others felt the film resembled Thug Life and Indian 2.

One user tweeted, “Honestly, the hype was the only good thing. After watching, it felt like all the energy drained away – weak storyline, messy execution, and nothing close to the expectations. A total letdown.”

Aamir Khan’s cameo received attention. A viewer posted the scene and wrote, “The best face off in the history of Indian Cinema.”

A third user wrote, “From the very first frame, Rajinikanth owns the screen. His entry? Pure goosebumps. Every move, every dialogue, every smirk – electric. Action sequences are jaw-dropping, larger-than-life, and perfectly choreographed. Comedy lands effortlessly, emotions hit just right, and the pacing never lets you blink. The second half amps it even further – climax is nothing short of a thunderbolt, leaving you cheering in your seat. And that post-credit scene? A perfect cherry on top, teasing just enough to leave fans buzzing.”

However, some feedback pointed out pacing issues. One user tweeted, “Title card feels like LEO, Nagarjuna steals the show, Soubin is okay, interval positive; second half is lengthy with a predictable climax, Amir Khan’s cameo disappointing, and Pooja is the only positive.”

Another highlighted the flashback sequences and de-aging effects. “The best flashback work of Lokesh Kanagaraj… Pure madness from the Superstar, just like Jailer. Perfect de-aging and uniquely delivered with a vintage flavour. Recently considered the best de-aging in Kollywood.”

About The Film

Coolie features one of the strongest casts in recent Indian cinema. Rajinikanth plays Deva, an ageing smuggler forced back into a dangerous world. Nagarjuna Akkineni takes on a villainous role, unpredictable and charming, reminiscent of Heath Ledger’s Joker. Aamir Khan appears as Dahaa, adding mystery and suspense.

Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Sathyaraj, and Soubin Shahir deliver solid performances that bring depth and energy. The story follows Deva as he navigates betrayal, crime, and old enemies, combining action, drama, and style.
