The box office clash between Coolie and War 2 has become one of the biggest talking points in cinema this week. Rajinikanth’s action drama opened with a bang and created festival-like scenes among fans. In contrast, Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR’s spy thriller has failed to live up to expectations. Both films were released with massive hype, but their day seven collections show a sharp decline in momentum.
Coolie Box Office Collection Day 7
Coolie had a massive start at the Indian box office. On day one, it collected Rs 65 crore net, with Rs 44.5 crore coming from Tamil Nadu, Rs 15.5 crore from the Telugu states, and Rs 4.5 crore from the Hindi belt. Though it dipped slightly on day two with Rs 54.75 crore, it recovered well over the weekend, adding Rs 74.75 crore on Saturday and Sunday.
On Monday, the film made Rs 12 crore, followed by Rs 9.51 crore on Tuesday, and Rs 6.50 crore on Wednesday (Day 7). This brings its first-week domestic total to around Rs 225 crore. While impressive, the film must earn more to secure the “hit” tag.

With a budget of Rs 350 crore, Coolie needs to cross its breakeven point and continue growing to be declared a success. Currently, it is ahead of War 2, but the fight for profitability is still ongoing.
War 2 Box Office Collection Day 7
Unlike its competitor, War 2 is struggling to hold ground. The film earned only Rs 5.50 crore on day seven, bringing its first-week total to Rs 199 crore. Wednesday was its weakest day so far, showing a significant drop in collections.
Occupancy numbers also stayed low, with just 10.21 percent overall in Hindi circuits. Morning shows drew only 7.11 percent occupancy, while night shows managed 12.73 percent. This is disappointing for a film backed by YRF’s Spy Universe and featuring two major stars.

Compared to its predecessor, the sequel is underperforming as War collected more in seven days. The first War earned Rs 238.35 crore in its opening week. War 2 needed similar results to justify its big budget, reported between Rs 325 and Rs 400 crore. To be a clean hit, it must cross Rs 270–280 crore in India, while Rs 420 crore or more would make it a blockbuster. Right now, those figures look out of reach.
Coolie Vs War 2: Will They Survive?
After one week, Coolie has the upper hand. Rajinikanth’s strong fan base and festive release gave it a head start, even though weekday numbers are slowing down. However, War 2 is already on shaky ground and could be heading towards a flop unless it sees a turnaround in the coming days.
The real test for both films will come in their second weekend. Word of mouth and repeat audiences will decide whether Coolie can cross its breakeven point and whether War 2 has any chance of recovery. For now, the Rajinikanth starrer continues to lead the box office race.
