India saw 83,833 cases in 24 hours, while 1,043 fatalities drove the death toll to over 67,000. Health ministry had said that 54 per cent of the total coronavirus cases in India were reported among people from 18 to 44 years of age while patients in 60 years and above bracket account for 51 per cent deaths. It also said that India’s case fatality rate stands at 1.76 per cent, one of the lowest across the world.

The Union Health Ministry said India’s fatality rate was among the lowest in the world. “While the global average is 110 deaths per million population, India is reporting 48 deaths per million population. The comparative figure for Brazil and the UK is 12 and 13 times higher, respectively,” it said.

 14,000 beds were allocated for COVID-19 in Delhi. Over 70 percent of them are vacant as of now. We sought information from five-six hospitals and got to know that 70-80 percent patients there have come from outside Delhi. There might be issues in particular hospitals, but there is no issue of beds. (Input from ANI)

424 more cases and five deaths were reported in the last 24 hours in the Maharashtra department of police . Total confirmed cases in the police force have risen to 16,015, including 2,838 active cases, 13,014 recoveries and 163 deaths.
