Covid-19 update: India’s total tally crosses 7 million

India has become only second country after the United States to record 7 million cases. In last 24 hours, the country recorded 74,383 cases, taking the total toll to 70,53,807. With 918 deaths on Saturday, the fatality toll rose to 108,334.

“India’s Covid-19 tally crosses 70-lakh mark with 74,383 new cases and 918 deaths reported in the last 24 hours,” ANI quoted Union Health Ministry.

Total case tally stands at 70,53,807, including 8,67,496 active cases, 60,77,977 cured/discharged/migrated cases and 1,08,334 deaths: Union Health Ministry.

10,78,544 samples tested for Covid-19 yesterday. Total 8,68,77,242 samples tested in the country up to 10th October, said Indian Council of Medical Research(ICMR) in its latest Twitter update.

On Sunday morning, India crossed the landmark of over 60-lakh Covid-19 recoveries, as 89,514 people recuperated on Saturday, according to the health ministry.

India’s recovery rate increased marginally to 86.2 per cent, death rate stood steady at 1.5 per cent and daily positivity rate saw a slight growth at 6.9 per cent.

*The five states are – Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nad accounts for the maximum caseload of the country.

*Kerala has 1,75,304 recoveries and is followed by Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu with 6,91,040 and 5,91,811 recoveries respectively.

*So far India has conducted more than 8.68 million tests.

*Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain said that the government will take extra care during and post festive season.

*New cases of coronavirus in the United States hit a two-month high on Friday with over 58,000 infections.

*Brazil registered 559 additional coronavirus deaths over the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 150,198.

Meanwhile, the global coronavirus cases has surpassed the 37 million mark. The number of deaths, meanwhile, have mounted to nearly 1,071,400, according to the Johns Hopkins University.

As of Sunday morning, the total number of cases stood at 37,087,467 and the fatalities increased to 1,071,399.
