COVID-19 updates|August 11,2020. India’s COVID-19 cases jumped from 10 lakh to 22 lakh in 24 days

The confirmed number of coronavirus cases in the world has reached 20 million

India’s novel coronavirus tally crossed the 22 lakh-mark with 62,064 new cases, while the recoveries surged to over 15.35 lakh. At present, there are 6,39,929 active cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and the total coronavirus cases now stands at 22,15,074.

The confirmed number of coronavirus cases in the world has reached 20 million. That’s according to the tally kept by Johns Hopkins University.

Health officials believe the actual number is much higher, given testing limitations and the fact that as many as 40% of all those who are infected have no symptoms.

India’s covid-19 cases have jumped from 10 lakh to 22 lakh in 24 days with over 60,000 infection reported daily in the last few days and analysis of the health ministry data showed on Monday.

In Tamil Nadu Chennai total of 5,914 persons tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, taking the total number of cases to 3,02,815. With 114 deaths in the past 24 hours, the death toll reached 5,041.

In Jharkhand, 531 new Corona positive patients have been confirmed in the last 24 hours. With this, the number of corona cases has increased to 18,786. A total of 9,748 patients have recovered in the state.189 have died so far in the state. The number of active cases in the state has reached 8,849.

The coronavirus death toll in West Bengal crossed the 2,000 mark on Sunday with 54 more people dying of the disease. So far 2,059 people in West Bengal have died of Covid-19. 

According to the government bulletin, 2,939 people tested positive for the novel coronavirus, taking the total number of cases to 95,554. The number of active cases in the state is at 26,375. 

The suspension of flights to Kolkata from high Covid-19 prevalence cities (viz. Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Chennai and Ahmedabad) will continue till August 31, reports ANI quoting West Bengal government.
