Delhi GRAP

Delhi GRAP: NCT Delhi has again come under GRAP rules and regulations due to ever-increasing pollution in the city.  The Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) has temporarily banned BS-3 Petrol and BS-4 Diesel four-wheelers in Delhi. The AQI of Delhi has been observed as in the “Severe” category. The authorities have not mentioned any timeline for the temporary ban on selected classes of four-wheelers. Check more details below

Reason for The Ban

The committee announced the ban after they observed that the Air Quality Index of NCT Delhi increased significantly on 22nd December. The AQI was observed at 409 and the sub-committee also said that the Air Quality will only expected to degrade more in the upcoming times due to unfavourable climatic and meteorological conditions.

What Exactly do AQI Values Mean?

AQI ranges from 0 to 500 which indicates the Air quality. A score ranging from 0 to 50 is labelled as “Good,” and scores from 51 to 100 are considered “Satisfactory,” with values between 101 to 200 as “moderate, 201 to 300 as “poor,” scores from 310 to 400 can be considered as “Very Poor” and lastly values ranging from 401 to 500 as “Severe”.

GRAP Ban Exceptions

With the ban on BS-3 Petrol and BS-4 diesel vehicles, the committee has also imposed a ban on demolition and construction works in the NCR region except for some crucial activities such as railway projects, ISBT, metro, healthcare and national security projects.
