A meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) was held to decide the date of the Congress President’s election. According to sources, the election of Congress President will be held on October 17. The notification for this will be issued on September 22. The nominations for the elections will be held from 11 am to 3 pm from September 24 to September 30. Voting will be held in all the state offices from 10 am to 4 pm on October 17 and the results will be out after counting on October 19.
The nomination for the Congress President election will be held at the Congress Headquarters. There are more than 9 thousand voters in total. In this meeting held through video conferencing, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi joined abroad. Apart from these, many leaders including Harish Rawat, Salman Khurshid, Mukul Wasnik, Mallikarjun Kharge, Kumari Selja, Madhusudan Mistry, KC Venugopal, Jairam Ramesh, Ajay Maken, Abhishek Manu Singhvi were present in the Congress office in the meeting. Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh also attended the meeting virtually.
Anand Sharma, who was angry with the party, was also present in the CWC meeting. Anand Sharma had met former Rajya Sabha MP Ghulam Nabi Azad, who resigned from the Congress, last evening. According to sources, in the CWC meeting, many leaders have asked former Congress President Rahul Gandhi to become the president of the party again.
Congress is about to start Bharat Jodo Yatra
The Congress party is going to start ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ from Kanyakumari on 7th September under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi. This 148-day yatra will end in Kashmir. This five-month journey is going to cover a distance of 3,500 km and more than 12 states. The padyatra (March) will cover a distance of 25 km every day. It will include padyatras, rallies and public meetings, in which senior Congress leaders including Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will also participate.
