Former Bharatiya Janata Party leader Yashwant Sinha has joined the Trinamool Congress ahead of the West Bengal Assembly Polls that are scheduled to begin from this month. The veteran leader joined TMC on Saturday, days after he criticised BJP, alleging that they were making fun of West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee who was injured while filing for election paper in Nandigram.
" Shame on BJP. Instead of sympathising with Mamata injured in an attack they are making fun of it,' he tweeted on Wednesday.
Mr Sinha had left BJP in 2018. He was former Union Finance and External Affair Minister.
"The battle for Bengal is the battle for India. The voters in Bengal will vote for the future of India in this election," he also wrote on Twitter on Thursday.
The elections in Bengal are scheduled to take place in six phases and will commence from March 27.
