Google Doodle celebrates ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022

ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022: Google has doodled today on the occasion of the start of ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022. The 12th edition of the Women’s Cricket World Cup has started at the ‘Bay Oval Stadium’ in New Zealand from 6:30 am today on 04 March. The host team is playing the first match of the tournament against West Indies. India’s first match is against Pakistan on 06 March.

In today’s doodle, six women cricketers are shown playing in the presence of spectators in the background.

The world’s first international cricket match was played between Canada and the United States of America in 1844. The first Women’s World Cup tournament was held in 1973 which was won by England. Eight teams will take on each other in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022.

The tournament was to be held in early 2021 but had to be postponed due to the circumstances arising due to corona infection. World Cup matches will be played in 6 host cities – Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Wellington, Dunedin and Christchurch. Australia has won the Women’s Cricket World Cup trophy six times, while England has won the tournament four times.
