According to a report in Chinese media organization Sixth Tone, at least four Indian-made generic Covid drugs — Primovir, Paxista, Molnunate and Molnatris — have been listed for sale on Chinese e-commerce platforms in recent weeks. Both Primovir and Paxista are the generic versions of Paxlovid while the other two are the generic versions of Molnipiravir. All four of these drugs are believed to have been approved by the Indian authorities for emergency use, but are not legal for use in China. While the head of a pharmaceutical in Beijing told the media that India is the only country where we can source reliable and affordable Covid drugs with a guarantee. But illegal groups manufacturing counterfeit drugs can also take advantage of this increased demand. This will badly affect the treatment of patients.
