Centre Writes To 6 States Over Rising Covid Cases

In view of the increasing cases of Covid-19 in the country, the Center has written to six states asking them to focus on preventing the sudden increase in cases due to the viral infection. The Union Health Secretary on Wednesday instructed the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka to lay emphasis on testing, treatment, tracking and vaccination.

“These are some of the states which are reporting high number of cases indicating local transmission and need to assess the risk to contain the infection and fight against the pandemic now,” the letter said. There is a need to follow the measures accordingly without losing the success achieved till date.

“It is important that the state keeps a close watch and takes action before a worrying situation arises to control the emerging spread of the infection,” the letter said. In the letter, the ministry has advised the states to examine the Covid situation at the micro level (district and towns) and focus on implementation of necessary measures for quick and effective management of Covid-19.

More than 700 cases in the country after 4 months

After the arrival of 754 new cases of corona virus infection in India in a day, the number of people infected so far in the country has increased to 4,46,92,710. After about four months, more than 700 daily cases of infection have been reported in the country. At the same time, the number of patients under treatment has increased to 4,623. On November 12 last year, 734 daily cases of infection were reported in the country.

According to the data released by the Union Health Ministry at eight o’clock on Thursday morning, after the death of a patient due to infection in Karnataka, the death toll in the country has increased to 5,30,790. According to statistics, a total of 4,41,57,297 people have become infection free in India so far, while the death rate from Covid-19 is 1.19 percent. The national rate of recovery of patients is 98.80 percent.

According to the website of the Ministry of Health, so far 220.64 crore doses of anti-Covid-19 vaccines have been administered under the nationwide vaccination campaign in the country.
