India’s coronavirus count rose to 46,59,985 on Saturday

India’s coronavirus count rose to 46,59,985 on Saturday with a record rise of 97,570 new cases. The toll rose by 1,201 to 77,472. As many as 36,24,196 people have recovered from the infection, pushing the recovery rate to 77.77%. The case fatality rate has dropped to 1.66%.

Globally, the coronavirus has infected more than 2.85 crore people and claimed 9,16,348 lives, according to Johns Hopkins University. Over 1.92 crore people have recovered from the infection worldwide.

A new Ipsos survey, conducted on behalf of the World Economic Forum, shows that three-quarters of adults would get a vaccine for COVID-19 if it were available.

But nearly two-thirds (59%) don’t think one will be available by the end of 2020.

The study, which covers nearly 20,000 adults in 27 countries, also reveals where in the world take-up would be strongest.

Delhi recorded its biggest single-day jump of 4,321 cases of Covid-19 on Saturday, taking the city’s tally to over 2.14 lakh. Death toll in Delhi mounted to 4,715 with 28 fatalities recorded in the last 24 hours.

In the last four days when Delhi has recorded more than 4,000 new cases of Covid-19 daily, the number of tests carried out has been above 50,000.

Haryana reports its biggest single-day spike of 2,783 COVID19 cases and 24 fatalities, taking infection tally to 91,115 and death toll to 956; active case count 19,446: State health department.

Months after lakhs of Odia migrant workers returned home by Shramik Special trains in the wake of Covid-19 lockdown, over 1,800 of them today started their journey back to their workplaces in Gujarat and Chhatisgarh after Indian Railway decided to run five special trains for them.

A total of 5,62,60,928 samples tested up to 12th September. Of these, 10,71,702 samples were tested yesterday: Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

India’s COVID19 recoveries have witnessed a steep exponential rise – from 50,000 in May to over 36 lakhs in September. A high level of more than 70,000 recoveries reported every day. Recoveries are nearly 3.8 times the Active Cases (under 1/4 total cases): Ministry of Health.
