Food and Drug Authority (FDA) Alert: Older adults who take Pfizer Covid Shot risk developing brain stroke

The updated Covid-19 shot, manufactured by US pharmaceutical company Pfizer Inc. and German partner BioNTech, may be associated with a type of stroke in older adults, according to warnings issued on Friday by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA). However, the CDC continues to advise people to maintain current Covid-19 vaccinations.

As per Report, the conclusions were drawn based on preliminary data examined by US health authorities. According to the safety monitoring system, the Pfizer/BioNTech bivalent shot may have a potential safety risk where adults 65 and older were more likely to get an ischemic stroke 21 days after receiving it than they were between days 22 and 44.
Blockages in the arteries that provide blood to the brain are what cause an ischemic stroke. Additionally called cerebral ischemia.

The CDC’s Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, other countries’ databases, and Pfizer-databases, BioNTech’s according to the FDA and CDC, did not identify this safety problem because it needs further study.

As per health authorities “Although the totality of the data currently suggests that it is very unlikely that the signal in VSD (Vaccine Safety Datalink) represents a true clinical risk, we believe it is important to share this information with the public.”

Pfizer and BioNTech aware of limited reports of ischemic strokes in elderly

In a statement, Pfizer and BioNTech stated that they were made aware of a small number of cases of ischemic strokes in adults 65 and older after receiving their revised dose.

Further company stated “Neither Pfizer and BioNTech nor the CDC or FDA have observed similar findings across numerous other monitoring systems in the US and globally and there is no evidence to conclude that ischemic stroke is associated with the use of the companies’ COVID-19 vaccines.”

According to sources, the CDC and FDA continue to advise that everyone aged 6 months and older maintain current COVID-19 immunisation status. Moderna’s bivalent vaccine has not been linked to this safety issue.
