Govt panel likely to decide on Covovax as a heterologous booster dose

Fluctuations in the cases of Corona (Corona cases in India) are continuing in the country. Meanwhile, the process of vaccination is going on continuously. In fact, in view of the deteriorating condition of Corona in China, many countries around the world including India are worried. Being a neighboring country, people in India are very scared.

However, virologists and experts of the country say that there is less possibility of a situation like China in India. But still the government has started the process of applying booster doses of Corona to the common people across the country. The Covovax vaccine has been prepared to protect people from the new variant of Corona. Serum Institute of India (SII) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Adar Poonawalla has said that his Covovax vaccine will be approved as an anti-Covid-19 ‘booster’ dose in the next 10 to 15 days.

Poonawala (SII) said in a program at Bharati Vidyapeeth University on Sunday that the vaccine works very well against the Omicron variant of the corona virus. When asked about the states and districts not getting the Covishield vaccine, he said that the central government has enough stock of the vaccine for supply.

Covovax proved to be a good booster dose

He further said, ‘Covovax will get approval in the next 10-15 days as a ‘booster’ dose. It is actually the best booster as it is much more effective against Omicron than Covishield.

Poonawalla said that everyone is looking towards India with hope, not only in terms of healthcare but also because the country has managed to take care of a vast and diverse population and it has increased the number of patients from 70 to 70 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Also helped 80 countries. He further said, ‘All this was possible because of the leadership of our central government, our state governments, health workers, manufacturers, who worked together for a common goal.’

Program was done on the occasion of the birth anniversary of late minister and Education Minister of Western Maharashtra

On the occasion, Poonawalla was awarded the Dr. Pantangrao Kadam Memorial Award at the hands of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. This program was done on the occasion of the birth anniversary of late minister and Education Minister of Western Maharashtra Kadam. Poonawalla appealed to the students who wish to pursue education abroad and said that there is no place like India to fulfill dreams because of Bharati Vidyapeeth and other institutions like it.
