World Mental Health Day 2021: Know Why World Mental Health Day is Celebrated

Every year, the World Mental Health Day is celebrated across the world on October 10. This day is celebrated to increase awareness about the issues of mental health among people.

Every year, the World Mental Health Day is celebrated across the world on October 10. This day is celebrated to increase awareness of the issues of mental health  and  for the purpose of organizing the collaborative efforts of mental health. The World Mental Health Association was started on October 10, 1992. We know all the things about physical illness and also get treatment, but in today’s life, mental illnesses come out as a very big problem. In fact, people are celebrating World Mental Health Day on October 10 with the aim of being sensitive and aware of mental health.

History of World Mental Health Day

World Mental Health Day was celebrated on the initiative of the United Nations Deputy General Secretary Richard Hunter and the World Federation for Mental Health in 1992. After the suggestion of the UN Secretary General Eugene Brody in 1994, World Mental Health Day was started with a theme. For the first time in 1994 “improve the quality of mental health services worldwide.” World Mental Health Day was celebrated with the theme. Mental health weeks are also celebrated to avoid mental diseases in some countries including Australia and spread awareness about their losses.

Why is World Mental Health Day celebrated

Today, many people in the world are depressed or a victim of any other mental illness. This disease has increased so much in today’s era that every other person suffers from it. People also comit suicide after becoming prey to mental diseases. In such a situation, this day is  celebrated for the purpose of awareness of the world’s mental health.
