According to the Jharkhand Chief Minister’s Office, the delegation invited Soren to attend the Marang Buru Dharom Garh Maha Sammelan, scheduled for November 4 and 5, 2026, in Madhuban, Giridih district. The delegation also invited the Chief Minister as the chief guest at the 26th International Santal Socio-Sarna Religion Conference, scheduled to take place from November 22 to 24, 2026, in Lalpania, Bokaro district. The event is associated with the religious beliefs, social traditions and cultural identity of the Santhal community.
The Santhal community is one of India’s major tribal communities
The details were shared by the Office of the Chief Minister of Jharkhand in a post on X on October 24. The post stated that the joint delegation met Hemant Soren and formally invited him to participate in the two upcoming conferences.
The Santhal community is one of India’s major tribal communities, with a distinct language, cultural heritage, customs and traditional religious practices. Sarna traditions are associated with the worship of nature and sacred groves among several Adivasi communities in Jharkhand and other parts of eastern India.
Religious and cultural gatherings such as these provide an opportunity for community members to come together, preserve traditional practices and discuss issues related to their social and cultural identity. Such events also offer a platform for representatives to bring community concerns and aspirations to the attention of public officials.
