In a post on social media platform X, Soren said representatives of various political parties and citizens raised issues related to the difficulties being faced by ordinary people during the SIR exercise.

The discussions focused on the challenges faced by voters during the revision of electoral rolls and the need to ensure that eligible citizens are not deprived of their right to vote. Participants also highlighted concerns about safeguarding the democratic rights of the public.

Soren stressed that transparency in the electoral process is essential for maintaining public confidence in democratic institutions. He also underlined the importance of accountability on the part of the Election Commission of India.

The Special Intensive Revision is an exercise undertaken by the Election Commission to review and update electoral rolls. The process involves checking voter details and ensuring that electoral records remain accurate.

However, the exercise has also become a subject of political debate, with opposition parties raising concerns about documentation requirements, voter access and the possibility of eligible voters facing difficulties during the process.

The INDIA alliance meeting provided a platform for representatives of different parties and citizens to discuss these concerns and raise issues related to electoral participation.

Soren reiterated that a transparent election process and an accountable Election Commission are necessary to preserve people’s trust in democracy and protect the right to vote.
