Inflation Alert: Auto Fare Increased

Auto Fare Increased 2022: With a proposal to increase the fare by Rs 1.5 per kilometer for three-wheeler autos and Rs 15 in base fare for taxis in the country’s capital Delhi, along with the fare of auto rickshaws are going to increase soon.

What is the reason behind the increase in rent?

Officials said the proposal to hike fares has been given in-principle approval and is likely to be placed before the cabinet for approval in the next meeting. Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot confirmed that the government is planning to increase the fare. According to officials, there has been a need to increase the fares due to the increase in the price of CNG.

Rent Revision Committee made this recommendation

In April, the government had formed a 13-member fare revision committee. The committee had recommended an increase of Re 1 per kilometer in fares for three-wheelers and up to 60 per cent increase in taxi fares.

Base fare should also be increased –

Officials said the meter down fee for auto rickshaws will be increased to Rs 30 from the earlier base fare of Rs 25 and Rs 11 per kilometer instead of Rs 9 and a half. Similarly, meter down charges for taxis will now be Rs 40 instead of Rs 25.

App based operators have already increased fares –

At the same time, for non-AC taxis, Rs 17 instead of Rs 14 per kilometer and Rs 20 instead of Rs 16 for AC taxis. The app-based operators had already increased the fares while there was no revision in the fares of auto rickshaws and taxis which are governed by the rules of the government.
