Lumpy Skin Disease in Gujarat : Symptoms Of Lumpy Disease

Lumpy Skin Disease in Gujarat: Amidst the threat of corona virus and monkeypox in the country, a new virus has knocked in Gujarat, which is rapidly engulfing animals.

Giving information, Gujarat Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister Raghavji Patel said that so far a total of 999 cattle have died due to Lumpy Skin Disease in the state, most of which are cows and buffaloes.

Virus spread in 14 districts of Gujarat

In a release issued by the Gujarat government, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister Raghavji Patel was quoted as saying that cases of this virus-borne disease have been found in 14 districts of the state and more than 37 thousand.

Infected animals have been treated. It has been told in the release that so far 2.68 lakh animals have been vaccinated to prevent the spread of this disease.

Gujarat government minister Raghavji Patel said that after the first case of the disease was reported in the state, a high-level meeting was held to make proper arrangements to control it. He said that the disease has been controlled. However, he did not say when the first case of lumpy skin disease was reported.

Lumpy Skin Disease is a disease that is spread by mosquitoes, flies, lice and wasps. It is spread through direct contact with cattle and through contaminated food and water.

What are the symptoms of lumpy skin disease

Symptoms of Lumpy Skin Disease include fever in animals, discharge from the eyes and nose, salivation from the mouth, soft blisters like lumps all over the body, decreased milk production and difficulty in feeding.

Disease spread in these 14 districts of Gujarat

Cases of lumpy skin disease have been found in 14 districts of Gujarat – Kutch, Jamnagar, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Rajkot, Porbandar, Morbi, Surendranagar, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Botad, Junagadh, Gir Somnath, Banaskantha and Surat.
