Mann Ki Baat: PM Modi warns against vaccine hesitancy, pays tribute to Milkha Singh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 78th edition to the nation through his Mann Ki Baat radio programme was centred around Covid-19. The Prime Minister asked people to shun Covid-19 vaccine hesitancy and ensure jabs to them and their family members to collectively fight against novel coronaviris.

He also cautioned against the rumours related to the vaccine as he said that people should not believe in such rumours and make people aware of the benefit of the drive being run by the government to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease.

“Those who are spreading rumours on vaccines, let them be. We all will do our work and ensure people around us get vaccinated. The threat of Covid-19 remains, and we have to focus on vaccination as well as follow Covid-19 protocols,” the Prime Minister said.

Noting that India is now able to administer lakhs of vaccine doses everyday, the Prime Minister warned “avoiding vaccine jabs may be very dangerous and such act will not only push every individual’s life in danger but that of the family members as well”.

The prime minister also sent best wishes for forthcoming Tokyo Olympics and lauded the contributions of legendary Milkha Singh, who recently passed away following Covid-19 illness.

“When talking about the Olympics, how can we not remember Milkha Singh Ji. When he get hospitalized, I got a chance to speak to him, I had requested him to motivate the athletes going for Tokyo Olympics,” said PM Modi.

PM Modi urged India to motivate and cheer for the sportspersons representing the country at the Tokyo Olympics.

“Every athlete who is going to Tokyo has worked hard. They are going there to win hearts. It must be our endeavour to support our team and not put pressure on the team,” he said.
