All about Maruti Suzuki eVX EV SUV

The first batch of information released by Maruti Suzuki indicates that the company’s upcoming global electric SUV will be built using a specific EV design. This new platform will be created in collaboration with Toyota, which will also produce its own SUV. According to Maruti, the brand would produce a “range of future full-EV models” in the coming years thanks to this new platform. The production-spec Toyota Prius and the Maruti YV8 SUV will be made in Gujarat for India and some international markets.

The new SUV will be 4,300mm long, 1,800mm wide, and 1,600mm high, which is nearly the same size as the current-generation Creta. Maruti has provided these specific measurements. We can affirm that this new SUV will have a 2,700mm wheelbase, and the cabin space is anticipated to be revolutionary thanks to the born-EV architecture.

Design details

The style of Maruti’s current ICE line is drastically different from the eVX concept car unveiled at the Auto Expo. The front of the Maruti eVX concept sports a squared-off grille, a tall bonnet with a flat snout, and V-shaped headlamps with distinctive LED daytime running lamps.

Extremely short overhangs, high ground clearance, protruding wheel arches, and rough cladding that runs over the SUV’s sides, front, and back are all characteristics of the concept vehicle. It has a coupe-SUV appearance because of the way the sloping roofline blends in with the sloped rear windscreen and the tailgate. The concept car’s low-profile tyres will likely be replaced by more traditional ones in the final product. The alloy wheels mirror Tesla’s aerodynamic wheel design.

Battery and Range

According to Maruti, the new eVX SUV concept would have a 60kWh battery and a 550km range. The production version of this SUV is anticipated to feature a battery with a similar capacity and a real-world range of about 500 kilometres, as we reported last year. A more affordable model will also exist, with a battery size of roughly 48 kWh and a real-world range of about 400 km.
