Mass Outrage : 48% flyers want alcohol prohibited on international flights

Many passengers are now debating whether it is wise to provide alcohol on board the aircrafts after a macabre, news-grabbing, and disgusting occurrence in which an inebriated man urinated on his female co-passenger on an international Air India flight.

According to a recent survey, 48 percent of travellers want to completely ban the sale of alcohol on international flights, while 89 percent called for stricter measures to be taken against rowdy passenger behaviour.

In the survey, 50% of participants agreed that passengers should be required to sign an agreement promising not to board the plane when intoxicated, while 32% said that passengers must sign a promise promising not to drink personal alcohol on board.

40 percent want breathe layer test to be conducted

The survey also indicated that 40% of respondents wanted airline workers to conduct a breathalyser test on passengers and to deny boarding based on predetermined criteria.

Recent events on board flights have stakeholders worried and brought attention to passengers’ disruptive behavior. Two instances of men urinating on other female passengers while intoxicated will make us hang our heads in shame and is a black swan incident for all airlines worldwide.

There is a great deal of public fury over the recent incident, and there are claims that Tata Group Airline did not act professionally, sought to cover up the incident, and showed insensitivity to 70-year-old women who were forced to endure mental agony.

Furthermore, it was noted that both business class and economy class passengers had engaged in antisocial behaviour, proving that the behaviour was not limited to any one class of passengers. The advantages offered by some airlines in the form of frequent flyer lounges and the promotion of champagne bars and specialty drinks have been blamed in part.

The people are currently in a state of shock, astonishment, and rage over the occurrence that has taken place, with 89 percent of respondents calling for the Central Government to step in and provide precautions against such unruly behaviour.
