Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav described mass marriage ceremonies as a celebration of collective social consciousness and a message against unnecessary expenditure and social showmanship.
The Chief Minister virtually participated from Bhopal in a mass marriage conference organised in Ashta, Sehore district, where around 200 brides were married under a collective marriage programme.
Mohan Yadav: Blessings to newlyweds
During the event, Mohan Yadav extended blessings and best wishes to the newly married couples for a happy and prosperous married life.
Support under government marriage scheme
The Chief Minister highlighted the achievements of the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah/Nikah Yojana, stating that between December 2023 and April 2026, around 1,70,187 daughters have entered married life under the scheme.
Nearly ₹1,000 crore assistance provided
According to the government, financial assistance of nearly ₹1,000 crore has been provided so far to beneficiaries under the scheme, aimed at supporting economically weaker families during marriage ceremonies.
Promoting social reform
Officials said such programmes help reduce financial burdens on families while promoting social equality and community participation. The initiative is also seen as an effort to discourage extravagant spending on weddings.
Focus on welfare and inclusion
The state government has reiterated its commitment to welfare-oriented schemes focused on women empowerment, social support, and inclusive development across Madhya Pradesh.
