Nissan Ariya: Nissan's new electric vehicle cannot be produced as soon as anticipated. According to media sources, paint, chip, and component problems are the reason the output is at least one-third below target. Yet, the automaker is attempting to increase production capacity.
Only 201 Ariya EVs were delivered to consumers by the end of the fourth quarter despite the fact that they were introduced in 2022. What orders, if any, have been completed since the end of December is unclear.
Nissan has blamed the Ariya delay on semiconductor shortages and supply chain issues, even though it acknowledges that the paint line is a problem. Initially, the manufacturer had envisioned producing 8,800 cars per month at the plant. Reuters notes that these projections have since been lowered to 6,900 for March and even lower numbers are expected before summer.
