In the next two months, Ola intends to roll out 10,000 electric two-wheelers in three cities, and by the end of the year, it wants to gradually expand its service across the nation.

Hemant Bakshi, CEO, Ola Mobility said, “Following the massive success of our Bangalore e-Bike taxi pilot, we have proven its sustainable value proposition for all ecosystem participants – the consumer (lower price), the driver (higher earnings), and Ola (new category and revenues), and now look at mass deployments across Bengaluru, Delhi, and Hyderabad and build a larger market for e-Bike taxis in India.”

Pilot programme was a success

Ola began testing an e-bike taxi service in Bengaluru in September 2023, capitalising on the city’s urban mobility. The approach resulted in a 40% market expansion in the category within three months and the most reasonably priced electric two-wheeler rides in India. It has completed more than 1.75 million rides so far. To maintain its fleet of e-bikes, Ola also installed 200 charging stations in Bengaluru.
