The Aam Aadmi Party has recommended to the Election Commission to direct the removal or covering of the picture of PM Modi from the government offices of the Center and the States. To this, the AAP claimed that putting Modi's photographs in these offices was a violation of the election code of conduct as Modi is the star campaigner of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Gujarat.

For a total of 182 assembly seats in Gujarat, assembly elections are to be held in two phases on December 1 and 5. The counting of votes will take place on December 8.

Posting pictures of PM Modi is a violation of the code of conduct

AAP's legal cell's Gujarat secretary Puneet Juneja said that being a declared star campaigner of the Bharatiya Janata Party, it is a violation of the model code of conduct to have Modi's photographs in government offices. The AAP submitted a report to the Election Commission in which the AAP said that a photograph of a star campaigner of a political party in government offices could have an impact on the election. AAP further said that if free and fair elections are to be held in the assembly seats of Gujarat, then instructions can be given to remove or properly cover the photographs of Prime Minister Modi in all the offices across the state.

Star campaigner's picture should not be there for fair elections

AAP also told the Election Commission that the pictures of PM Modi are the most in the offices of the state and central government and there is a movement of common people in such places, due to which its effect can be seen on the people too. The effect of pictures of star campaigners of any political party in any government offices can be seen on the elections, so in the interest of conducting fair elections in the state, immediate instructions should be given to remove or cover the pictures. The party further said that BJP has declared PM Modi as its star campaigner. Because of this, he is boosting the chances of BJP's victory.

AAP has called itself an important challenger in front of BJP in the upcoming assembly elections. That's why AAP is demanding the seventh consecutive term. AAP has released the list of its 178 candidates for the assembly elections in Gujarat.
