BJP leaders unhappy with MP Parvesh Verma’s boycott call against Muslims

The BJP has taken a tough stand on the ‘boycott’ remark of West Delhi MP Parvesh Verma. According to BJP sources, the BJP leadership has now sought an explanation from West Delhi MP Parvesh Verma regarding his controversial remarks. A ‘Virat Hindu Sabha’ was organized by the local unit of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and other organizations in Delhi last week. In this meeting, Verma had called for a “complete boycott” of “these people”.

JP Nadda seeks clarification

According to a report on The Indian Express, party sources said that the BJP’s national leadership did not appreciate his remarks. Though Verma did not name any community, the message that went out was wrong. A party leader said, “Party president (JP) Nadda ji has sought an explanation.”

According to media reports, an explanation has been sought from MP Parvesh Verma, but he has denied it. The BJP MP told The Indian Express that he was not asked for an explanation on the incident and that “nobody asked me anything.” BJP sources also said that the leadership had sent strict instructions to all its leaders as well as talks chiefs to refrain from making any “Hindu-Muslim” remarks.

‘No Hindu-Muslim comment’

A party leader said, “There are strict instructions from the party that no spokesperson or leader should make any comment which can be interpreted as divisive. No Hindu-Muslim remarks, that is the message. In fact, the party calls its spokespersons aggressive Hindu- Muslims don’t even send them for debate.”

Nupur Sharma was suspended by BJP

After the Nupur Sharma controversy, the BJP asked its leaders not to make public remarks against any religion, as it “harms the development narrative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.” This is the reason why the party suspended national spokesperson Nupur Sharma and Delhi leader Naveen Jindal for their remarks against the Prophet.
