Former MLA and Congress leader Asif Mohammad Khan has been arrested for abusing and threatening two Delhi Police personnel, including the SI, in a viral video. A case was registered in this regard at Shaheen Bagh police station.
Police said that along with arresting the accused, two other accused Minhaj and Sabir have been taken into custody. His role is being probed. Raids are being conducted in search of other accused who misbehaved with the police officers.
Here’s what happened
DCP Isha Pandey said that when the police team was patrolling, they saw a crowd of 20-30 people near Tayyab Masjid. When I went near, there was Congress councilor candidate in MCD, Areeba Khan’s father and former MLA Asif Mohammad Khan with his supporters and was addressing the people present from the mike.
Asif abused cops
He told that when SI Akshay asked Asif about the permission of the Election Commission, Asif became aggressive and started abusing him. Asif abused them and they were manhandled. Asif had given a complaint in this regard, on the basis of which an FIR has been registered.
