Forward-looking system being created in country through NEP: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on today addressed the 75th ‘Amrit Mahotsav’ of Shri Swaminarayan Gurukul Rajkot Sansthan through video conferencing. During this, PM Modi said that a new consciousness is communicated only by remembering the name of Shri Swaminarayan. Today, remembering the name of Shri Swaminarayan in the company of saints is a very fortunate occasion. I am sure that the future of this institute will be even more glorious in the times to come.

PM Modi said that our Gurukuls have been like a garden of equality, equality and service for centuries. Universities like Nalanda and Takshashila used to be synonymous with the global glory of this Gurukul tradition of India. Discovery and research were part of the way of life in India.

Prime Minister Modi said that after 2014, there has been an increase of more than 65% in the number of medical colleges. Through the new National Education Policy, for the first time the country is preparing an education system which is forward looking.

He said that when words like gender equality were not even born in the world, at that time scholars like Gargi and Maitreyi were doing debates in our country. Atreyi was also studying in Maharishi Valmiki’s ashram. I am happy that Swaminarayan Gurukul is starting ‘Kanya Gurukul’ to take this ancient tradition forward to modern India. I convey my best wishes to all of you for this.

The PMO informed that Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul Rajkot Sansthan was established in 1948 by Gurudev Shastriji Maharaj Shree Dharmajeevandasji Swami in Rajkot. The institute has expanded over time and currently has more than 40 branches across the world, providing school, undergraduate and postgraduate education to more than 25,000 students.
