Gujarat Election Results 2022: After the historical win of BJP in the state Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted a big “Thank you to his home state Gujarat today, saying he is “overcome with a lot of emotions”. “People blessed politics of development and at the same time expressed a desire that they want this momentum to continue at a greater pace. I bow to Gujarat’s Jan Shakti,” he said in one of a series of tweets.

He also thanked the people of Himachal Pradesh for their “affection and support”. The BJP has achieved a record victory in Gujarat, surpassing the Congress’s previous high score of 149 from 1985. Amit Shah, the party’s chief strategist, set a target of 140 seats, but the party is currently in the lead with more than 150 seats.

The victory has put an end to rumours that the state, which the BJP has ruled since 1995, has a dormant anti-incumbency movement. It has also highlighted the Prime Minister’s personal appeal, whose ties to his home state have held strong throughout his years in Delhi.
