Income tax raid on digital company working for Congress, unaccounted assets found: Income Tax Department

The Income Tax Department has raided Design Boxed, a company that does election management and digital marketing in Assam and other states for the country's main opposition Congress. Income Tax officials have searched a total of seven locations of the company located in Chandigarh, Mohali, Surat and Bangalore. Apart from this, the hotel room of the MD of the company has also been searched.

In a release issued by the Income Tax Department, it has been said that during the raid, many incriminating documents have been recovered, in which there is evidence of unaccounted income and transfer of properties. According to the Income Tax Department, the company was making accommodation entry through an entry operator. The company has also been accused of doing business through hawala.

According to the department, the company has underreported revenue for the purpose of tax evasion and has deliberately inflated expenses. The group has also been found to be involved in unaccounted cash payments. According to the department, it has also been found in the documents recovered from the raids that the personal expenses of the directors of the company have also been recorded as business expenses of the company.

According to the department, luxury vehicles have been purchased in the name of employees and entrants of the company for the use of directors and their family members. IT raid was done on 12 October.
