Know why BJP withdraws its candidate Murji Patel from Mumbai Andheri bypoll

The BJP has withdrawn the candidature of Murji Patel in the by-elections for the Andheri East assembly seat in Mumbai. Raj Thackeray, Sharad Pawar and Shinde Group’s Pratap Sarnaik urged the BJP to allow Rutuja, the widow of late MLA Ramesh Latke, to win unopposed.

Maharashtra Navirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackery had urged the BJP not to contest the East Andheri bypoll in reverence to late Shiv Sena MLA Ramesh Latke.

Notably seat fell vacant due to the untimely demise of Shiv Sena MLA Ramesh Latke. His widow Rutuja Latke is now contesting as a candidate of Shiv Sena – Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray.

It is being said that the result of this bypoll will set the tone for the coming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections.
