Madhya Pradesh BJP in Crisis! CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s Delhi Visit Fuels Dissent Rumors

Shivraj Singh Chouhan: Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, travelled to New Delhi on Sunday, one day after Deepak Joshi, the son of the late chief minister Kailash Joshi and a former minister, left the BJP and joined the Congress. Nearly the entire senior national leadership of the saffron party was absent from Delhi, sources close to the chief minister insisted, since they were occupied with the final stages of the campaign for the May 10 Karnataka Assembly elections.

Congress’s state media chief claimed that the CM was in Delhi to allay the worries of his party’s top leaders

The opposition Congress’s state media chief, KK Mishra, claimed that the CM was in Delhi to allay the worries of his party’s top leaders about the uncontrollable situation of dissent in the saffron party in the state as the Delhi visit took place amid growing rebellious voices of many BJP veterans in MP. It’s significant to note that Joshi, a three-time former BJP MLA, attacked the MP CM after joining the Congress on Saturday. Deepak Joshi’s wife, who tested positive for Covid, died in the absence of an ambulance during the lethal Covid wave in 2021, and Joshi even singled out Chouhan for blame.

Joshi left the BJP and joined the Congress

Joshi left the BJP and joined the Congress, but many other prominent BJP members, including former MLA and poet Satyanarayan Sattan, two-time former MLA Bhawar Singh Shekhawat, former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s nephew Anup Mishra, who was an ex-MP minister and was previously an MP and MLA from the Gwalior-Chambal region, Strong Jain community leader Mukesh Jain Dhana, an Uma Bharti supporter from the Bundelkhand region, has been vocal against the growing influence of Jyotiraditya Scindia-backers at the expense of party veterans in rebellious and alarming tones.

Widening communication gap in the state party

Raghunandan Sharma, a long-time party supporter and former Rajya Sabha member, stated: “I’ve heard that there are five prabharis (in-charges) deputed for the state party organisation, but they don’t seem to be operating the organisation efficiently, which is reflected by the widening communication gap in the state party. The durdasha (plight) among the party appears to imitate Draupadi’s anguish, who had five husbands, in the company of the five prabharis. Importantly, Satyanarayan Sattan and Bhawar Singh Shekhawat, two unhappy former MLAs, attended a meeting with the chief minister on Saturday in Bhopal.
