On the occasion of Vijay Diwas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the National War Memorial today to take part in the felicitation ceremony of the Swarnim Vijay Mashaals. Reaching the honor ceremony, the PM paid tribute to the soldiers who were martyred in the war. Significantly, these Mashaal were rotated across the country.
PM Modi signs the visitor's book at the National War Memorial. He said, 'On behalf of the entire nation, I salute the warriors of the 1971 war. Citizens are proud of the brave warriors who wrote unique tales of valor."
Remembering the valor and sacrifice of the Indian Armed Forces personnel who laid down their lives in the Indo-Pak war of 1971, PM Modi tweeted, ''On 50th Vijay Diwas, I salute the valor and sacrifice of the Liberators, Veterans & Brave Jawans of Indian Armed Forces. I remember Together we fought the oppressive forces and won. Rashtrapatiji presence in Dhaka holds special significance for every Indian."

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also arrived to take part in the honor ceremony of the Swarnim Vijay Mashaal on the occasion of Vijay Diwas. During this he issued the postal stamp.
The Defense Minister tweeted, 'On the occasion of Swarnim Vijay Diwas, we remember the courage and sacrifice of our armed forces during the 1971 war. The 1971 war is a golden chapter in the military history of India. We are proud of our armed forces and their achievements.'
At the same time, President Ram Nath Kovind has gone to Bangladesh to participate in the celebrations organized on the 50th Vijay Diwas. On this day in 1971, Lieutenant General Amir Abdullah Khan Niazi, the Chief Martial Law Administrator of East Pakistan and the Commander of the Pakistani military forces based in East Pakistan, signed the 'Instrument of Surrender' for the formation of Bangladesh. Niazi signed it in the presence of Jagjit Singh Arora, representing the Indian and Bangladesh forces in Dhaka. Bangladesh came into existence in 1971 after 9 months of war.
