Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said he had a “very good and detailed” conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, during which the two leaders discussed the latest developments in Ukraine and reviewed progress on key areas of the India-Russia bilateral agenda.

In a post on X, PM Modi said he expressed his gratitude to President Putin for sharing updates on the ongoing situation in Ukraine. The Prime Minister noted that both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the India-Russia Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership, which spans defence, trade, energy, and people-to-people exchanges.

PM Modi also said he looked forward to hosting President Putin in India later this year, a visit expected to further bolster diplomatic and economic cooperation. The upcoming engagement is likely to focus on expanding trade volumes, deepening energy partnerships, and aligning on global and regional issues of mutual interest.
