Taliban – Afghanistan issue: Foreign Ministry said – Our aim is only that Afghan soil is not used for terror

Questions are being raised about the recent meeting of Indian Ambassador Deepak Mittal with Taliban leader Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanekzai in Qatar’s capital Doha. Meanwhile, on Thursday, Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi clarified that whether there will be further talks with the Taliban, it cannot be answered with a yes or no. Our aim is that the land of Afghanistan should not be used for any kind of terrorist activities.

On Thursday, AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi asked the Center to clarify its stand on the Taliban, with the Indian Ambassador in Doha talking to the Taliban leader. The government should tell whether it considers Taliban a terrorist organization or not?

On these questions regarding talks in Doha, the Foreign Ministry spokesman said that he has no information about talks with the Taliban. Whether there will be further talks or not can not be answered in yes or no. Our only objective is that Afghanistan should not be used for terrorism. Arindam Bagchi also said that we are not even aware that any kind of government can be formed in Afghanistan.

Bagchi said that Kabul airport is not operational yet. As soon as flights resume from this airport, we will resume the work of bringing our people from Kabul. He said that most of the Indians have left Afghanistan, but as soon as the airport becomes operational, we will look into the matter once again and the survivors will also be brought.
