Tamil Nadu Extends Lockdown For Seven Days, Announces Strict Restrictions

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Saturday extended the Tamil Nadu Full Lockdown for a week without any relaxation in the state to reduce the Covid-19 infection. He said that the infection rate has come down but it is still not under control.

Tamil Nadu Lockdown implemented in Tamil Nadu ends on the morning of 24 May. Now it has been extended for a week from 24 May without giving any relaxation.

During this time, pharmacy, veterinary pharmacy will be open and milk supply, drinking water and daily newspaper distribution will be done.

Vegetables required for the general public will be made available in vehicles by the Department of Fruit Horticulture in Chennai city and all districts in collaboration with the concerned local bodies and corporation.

News and media companies can function as usual.

All shops have been allowed to open till 9 pm tonight and from 6 am to 9 pm for only one day tomorrow.

Private and government buses will be allowed to travel today and tomorrow.

Stalin said medical and health experts had suggested a two-week full lockout without loosening to reduce the number of Kovid-19 infections.
