Union minister Suresh Angadi, 65, dies of Covid-19

Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi, who was invincible in the history of Indian politics, lost on Wednesday to Coronavirus in India. Suresh Angadi, 65, was undergoing treatment at AIIMS. Angadis used to come from the prominent Lingayat community of Karnataka, who built the BJP’s base, especially in northern Karnataka.

He won four times from Belgaum. In fact, Angadi has never seen defeat in 2004 after contesting the first election. In the first election, he defeated Amarsingh Patil, son of Congress candidate and well-known politician and freedom fighter Vasantrao Patil.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a tweet, ‘Suresh Angadi was an extraordinary activist who worked hard to strengthen the party in Karnataka. He was a devoted MP and effective minister, acclaimed across the spectrum. His death is sad. My consolation is with his family and friends in this hour of grief. om Shanti.’
