Uttarpradesh Assembly Election: Aparna Yadav joins the Bharatiya Janata Party

Daughter-in-law of Mulayam Singh, Aparna Yadav joins the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday. After joining the party, Aparna Yadav said she has always been “influenced by PM [Prime Minister Narendra Modi]”.

Aparna Yadav also thanked the BJP for giving her an opportunity and said, “I was always influenced by the PM. The nation comes first for me. I’ve stepped out to serve the nation.”

“I have always been profoundly, in fact, indelibly impressioned by whatever our honourable Prime Minister [Narendra Modi] and honourable Chief Minister of UP Yogi Adityanath have said, whatever their policies are, I think I adhere to it, I abide by them…I joined this party so that I can serve my nation better,” Aparna Yadav said in an exclusive interview with India Today/Aajtak.

Note that Aparna Yadav is married to Mulayam Singh Yadav’s son Prateek Yadav. Prateek Yadav is son of his second wife, while SP president Akhilesh Yadav is his son from the first marriage.

In the presence of Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya and BJP state president Swatantra Dev Singh, Aparna joined the BJP on Wednesday. As per sources BJP may now field her in the polls.

In year 2017 Aparna contested assembly election on an SP ticket from Lucknow Cantonment. But she lost to BJP candidate Rita Bahuguna Joshi by a margin of 33,796 votes.

It is being said after Aparna now Yadav’s brother-in-law Pramod Gupta will also join the BJP in Lucknow. While, Akhilesh Yadav is also set to contest the upcoming Uttar Pradesh polls.

Between February 10 and March 7, assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh will be held. While election results will be declared on March 10.
