Gopal Khemka, a leader in the Bihar BJP and a well-known businessman, was shot and killed late Friday night near his home in the Gandhi Maidan area of Patna. This is a scary event that happened before the election. The attacker fired several shots from close range and then ran away. When the police arrived, they quickly found a bullet and a shell casing.

Khemka, who owned Magadh Hospital, was pronounced dead as soon as the police arrived. A lot of political people are angry about this shocking murder, especially since Khemka's son, Gunjan, was also killed six years ago in a case that hasn't been solved.

Pappu Yadav, a former MP, went to the crime scene and said that the Nitish Kumar government is to blame because no one is safe in Bihar anymore, not even famous people.  In a post that went viral on X (formerly Twitter), he questioned the state's "so-called good governance" and blamed bad management.

Opposition Reaction

The RJD and other groups have called the state a "jungle raj" and want the CM to step down and be held responsible.  As the 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections get near, this event is likely to get a lot of attention during the campaign. The most important thing is that everyone is safe.

What does this mean for people's views on the 2025 Bihar election?

People might lose faith in the police, which would be bad for the NDA's image:

  • It's possible that this will be used by the opposition to make it look like the government is falling apart.

  • Worries about safety: The Election Commission might be asked to make already safe places even safer.

  • Nitish Kumar's image as a "sushasan babu" is once again in danger.

Right now, the police are looking at CCTV images and following up on leads.  A task force has been formed to find the suspects and put them in jail.  Still, the bigger question is whether Nitish Kumar can make people trust the cops and courts again before the election.
