While Rahul Gandhi is in Raebareli, his name has surfaced in discussions regarding the $21 million USAID funding. BJP leader Gaurav Bhatia has alleged that Rahul sought foreign support to challenge PM Modi in elections. Responding to the claims, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera dismissed them as completely false. He stated that the idea of using USAID’s $21 million to weaken PM Modi’s leadership is a baseless claim.

BJP Leaders Link USAID Funding to Rahul Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi Foundation

BJP has targeted opposition leader Rahul Gandhi over the USAID funding issue. BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said, "It is worrisome that the Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, who has taken an oath under the Constitution of India to preserve the integrity and sovereignty of our country, is indulging in anti-India activities and acting as a stimulus for anti-India forces to interfere in the pure electoral process of our country. He (Rahul Gandhi) is taking the support of foreign forces to defeat PM Modi. They are not only after PM Modi but want to destroy the democracy of our country because India today under the leadership of PM Modi has become a global leader, and he cannot tolerate and digest it."

Ruling party spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari claimed, "The pattern of USAID funding reflects that the majority of the funding has gone to close aides of Rahul Gandhi and the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation. The US President has revealed twice that there was an attempt at creating political instability in India.

He further said, "The post of DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) has revealed how the deep state created political instability in Bangladesh. Their intention was to repeat this in India in 2024. Rahul Gandhi's remote control is in the hands of George Soros and foreign powers. This is why he goes on secret foreign trips and still hasn't spoken about the MoU he signed with China."

Congress Hits Back at BJP’s Allegations

Congress has strongly responded to the allegations made by Gaurav Bhatia and Pradeep Bhandari. Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera said, "For the past one week, a false narrative is being spread that US aid of 21 million dollars was taken to destabilise PM Modi... Where are Ajit Doval, IB, and RAW?.. If 21 million dollars could come to your country, then this is a slap in their (BJP's) face... Later they changed their statement and said that the money came in 2012 when UPA was in power. Did they win the 2014 election with that money? They change their goalposts whenever we ask questions."

Congress Questions BJP Over USAID Funding Links

Amid the accusations against Rahul Gandhi, Pawan Khera stated, "Selectively, they are saying that the Congress government took money from foreign funding agencies."

He further said, "When Smriti Irani was the brand ambassador of USAID and used to protest on the roads, was USAID behind those protests? Social activist Anna Hazare also launched a protest, after which our government lost the elections, and then he went to America and held roadshows there. Everyone knows that he used to receive money from the Ford Foundation and RSS was also involved in it."
