Recently, DK Shivakumar was in the news for taking a holy dip at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. He stated, "I have seen some media reports and received calls from my friends asking if I am getting closer to the BJP. I am a Congress leader by birth. Visiting the Maha Kumbh was my personal faith, and I respect all religions. Such rumors don’t affect me. I don’t take the BJP’s allegations seriously."

Regarding his visit to the Isha Foundation, he further clarified, "I have already been criticised for my visit to Isha Foundation, later today. I have been invited by Sadhguru, so I will be going there. Last year, my daughter visited there; Sadhguru is a spiritual intellectual from Mysore. I am a born Hindu who loves all religions, and my visit to the Isha Foundation does not mean that I am coming close to the BJP. They must know I have not met Amit Shah."
